DSL service

The DSL service is required to transport SIP (VoIP) traffic and HTTP traffic for the Noojee Campaigner web interface.

To calculate the bandwidth requirements the following formula should be used:

(No. of Agents x 300Kb) + (Supervisors * 200Kb)

E.g.

If you  have 5 Agents and 1 supervisor the requirement is:

5 * 300Kb + 1 * 200Kb = 1500Kb + 200Kb = 1700Kb.

Rounding up to the nearest 1000Kb gives a 2 Mb (2000Kb) DSL service.

Note: if the supervisor needs to monitor calls then add another 100Kb per supervisor.

Compression

The bandwidth requirements can be reduced by trading off a little of the call quality. Noojee Campaigner allows calls to be compressed. This reduces the call quality a little bit but reduces the bandwidth required from 100Kb per call to 50Kb per call.

To use compression your handsets must support G729. All handsets supplied by Noojee support G729.

When compression is used the calculations is:

(No. of Agents x 250Kb) + (Supervisors * 200Kb)

E.g.

If you  have 5 Agents and 1 supervisor the requirement is:

5 * 250Kb + 1 * 200Kb = 1250Kb + 200Kb = 1450Kb.

Rounding up to the nearest 1000Kb gives a 2 Mb (2000Kb) DSL service.

In this example the compression wouldn't make any difference as you still end up having to order a 2Mb link. For larger systems it can however make a significant difference.
