Firewall Configuration
Firewall Configuration
When installing a VoIP service in most circumstances you will need to reconfigure your firewall to allow the VoIP calls to pass through the firewall.
When Noojee deploys a VoIP service we use the industry standard Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Real Time Protocol (RTP).
Your firewall needs to be re-configured to open the following ports
SIP: UDP 5060
RTP: UDP 10,000 - 20,0000
You should also check that your firewall has strong support for SIP. It is quite common to find that a firewall or router doesn't not properly support SIP which causes call problems.
Common symptoms of a mis-configured firewall are:
- Unable to make outbound call
- Unable to make inbound call
- One way voice (one of the parties can't hear the other).
- Calls droppping out after 'n' minutes on a call.
You should also be aware that you may need to modify any routers or modems that site between your firewall and the Internet connection.
