Term

Definition 

AMA FLAGS

(Automated Message Accounting) default sets the system default. omit: Do not record calls. billing: Mark the entry for billing documentation: Mark the entry for documentation.

AUTOATTENDANT

Allows callers to be automatically transferred to a user's extension without the intervention of a receptionist.

CALLBACK

The originator of a call is immediately called back in a second call as a response.

CALL GROUP

Connects a group of phones to one Direct In Dial number so that all of the phones ring when a call comes in.

CALLER ID

The phone number of the person calling for incoming calls.

CDR

(Call Detail Record) Various details of all outgoing and incoming calls are recorded on the system.

CONTEXT

Controls the set of features and rules that apply to the handset within the system. Each extension context is itself simply a collection of extensions. Each extension context in a dial plan has a unique name associated with it.

DENY

IP address and network restriction. To deny a call is to hang up without answering an incoming call.

DIAL PLAN

The dial plan comprises multiple contexts for both inbound and outbound calls. Different contexts allow or dissallow a user from access to various features such as authentication, auto attendant, callback, message services, privacy and security.

DTMF MODE

(Dual Tone Multi Frequency) The standard tone - pairs used on telephone terminals for dialing using in - band signaling. The standards define 16 tone - pairs (0-9, #, * and A-F) although most terminals support only 12 of them (0-9, * and #).

DOMAIN

The range of information that can be entered. In a web address, www. is the host and the site name is the domain.

DYNAMIC

If a Host Type is entered as dynamic the handset is enabled to access and produce its own IP Address.

EXTENSION NUMBER

Each handset requires an extension number to operate individually on the system.

FRIEND

A friend is a handset Type used for calls registering both directions through multiple servers.

HANDSET

A Handset is a hard phone which can be linked into the PBX system.

HOST TYPE

 

IP ADDRESS

A unique address that certain electronic devices use in order to identify and communicate with each other on a computer network.

MASK

IP address and network restriction.

MD5 SECRET

MD5 is the type of security software placed on the Secret (or password).

NAT

Involves re-writing the source and/or destination IP Addresses.

PEER

A Peer is a handset Type used for a server to register with another server .

PERMIT

IP address and network restriction.

PICK UP GROUP

The Call Group as well as having an outbound grouping also have an inbound grouping to identify the group for call recording as well as directing calls to departments or teams.

PORT

UDP port that the client communicates on. the default value is 5060

QUALIFY

When the handset is turned on, the system then checks if it is still on at a designated interval. The default interval is 2,000 milleseconds.

REQUIRED FIELD

When editing or creating new information some fields are optional but some are essential for the information to be registered. Required Fields are indicated by an “*” beside the field.

TYPE

Type of registration with the server. There are three Types which are: User, Peer and friend.

Welcome Message

A sound file played to a caller immediately when they dial in.

Whisper on Answer

A sound file played to an agent when they answer the phone, before they are connected to the caller.
