05.1. Reporting Overview

Noojee Admin includes a powerful and easy to use interface for reporting on various aspect of your system. The following provides an overview on how to use the reporting interface.

Noojee Admin provides a number of ways in which a report can be generated:

  • Print Preview
  • Print Quality
  • Export to Excel (CSV)
  • Email
  • Schedule

You will probably want to use each of these techniques at different times. The following describes each of them.

Report Interface layout

The report interface has four core areas (labeled in red):

  • Area 1 - Report Toolbar
  • Area 2 - Filter selection
  • Area 3 - Report view area
  • Area 4 - Help

Report Toolbar

The Report Toolbar allows you to control how the report is output. From left to right the options are:

  • Preview
  • Print Quality
  • Export to Excel (csv)
  • Email
  • Schedule

Preview

The preview option outputs the report in the Report View area and allows you to scroll through the report. Some reports allow you to drill down to see additional detail regarding some aspect of the report. Where drill down is an option, text will be displayed as a blue hyper link. Click the blue hyper linked text to display a second details report in a popup window. Close the popup window to return to the original report.

Print Quality

The Print quality option displays the report in the Report View area as a PDF. From within the Report View area you will see options to print, download or search the report.

Use the Print Quality option if you want to print the report or save it as a PDF. The Print Quality option will take longer to display than the simpler Preview option.

Export to Excel

The Export to Excel option allows you to export the report to an CSV file which will be opened automatically in Excel or Open Office Calc.

The CSV format is stripped of much of the reports normal formating to make it easy to maniuplate the data in Excel. Exporting the data to Excel can be useful if you need to manipulate or arrange the data in ways that the standard reporting won't allow you to do.

Email

The email option lets you send a report via email to yourself or one or more parties. When sent as an email the report will appear as a PDF attachment to the email.

Sending the report as an email is also handy if the report normally takes a long time to run. If you choose to send the report as an email the report generation is performed in the background and you can move on to other task whilst the report is being generated. Once the report has been completed the report will appear in you email inbox.

Schedule

The schedule option allows you to send reports to yourself or other parties based on a regular schedule. This can be extremely useful if you need to look at a particularly report on a regular basis such as first thing every morning, weekly or at a particular time of the month. With scheduling you can set up more than one schedule for the report if you need to receive it at diffent times e.g. I look at the report every morning but I also want a final version 4pm on a Friday so I can check the figures before I go home.

The schedule Icon has a black no. in the top left hand corner that indicates the no. of schedules that have been setup for this report.

e.g. This report has 0 schedules.
