03.5.5. Button Bank Configuration

Button Bank Configuration

Button banks are used by receptionists so they can see the status of extensions and transfer calls with a single button.

Button bank configuration currently supports Snom & Polycom phones. Buttons are configured through handset properties.

To configure a handsets' button bank select 'Handsets' from the 'provision' menu.

Select the handset you wish to configure using the radio button, then click view properties. Next you will want to add a button configuration, click new.

  • For button banks, the “Key” must always begin with 'Button' but MUST be unique. e.g. use Button1, Button2 etc.

  • Type must be “Dial and Status”.

  • Value indicates the button number (remember that button banks are usually numbered starting after any buttons on the phone itself, so start at 13 for Snoms and 7 for Polycoms).

  • Value 2 is the extension number to be associated with this button.

  • Value 3 & 4 are the first & last name of the contact these are not visible on most button banks

Button bank configurations may be copied from handset to handset by selecting the handset radio button on the “handset list page” and clicking “Copy Properties” and entering the extension number of the handset to copy the properties to.

Once the button configurations have been entered the handset must be rebooted, this can be done from the menu on the phone or by simply removing the power cable. Some phones may take up to 5 minutes to reboot.
